Automated Trading Championship 2007
Mazhit Mugattarov
ATC 2007
Reporting the Championship: Fourth Week (22-28 October)

Four weeks have passed since the Championship started. Leaders interchanged all the time. Very different Expert Advisors took the first places.

One month has passed since the Automated Trading Championship 2007 started. The first place changed its owner every week. We witnessed sudden ups and downs.

The leader of the Championship doubled his deposit the first week. He tripled the initial deposit as of the end of the second week. However, a turnaround took place and the results became stable the third week. The leader's equity made only 24 200 dollars. Leaders interchanged all the time, and nobody has managed to stay in the leading position longer than a week. Perhaps, this time everything will be different, since many risky Expert Advisors have already left the Top Ten.

So this week, the first place is taken by a Participant from New Zealand, Michael Mayson. His result is higher than that of his predecessor in this place a week ago: 29 111 dollars. It must be noted that he significantly drew away from his competitors with such a profit. Michael said in his interview that he had been trading automatically for just six months. He explains his Expert Advisor's success rather simply: "It is not taking great risks". Well, the results are not bad at all for a novice. Our congratulations, Mr Mayson, to the first place. Now we go to the second place.

The second line in the Table of Participants is owned by MiltonWaddams from Australia. He was in the third place previous week. Nothing has changed by the end of the fourth week. All his positions were opened in the early October, but they have not been closed up to now. The Expert Advisor does not use any stop orders, whereas any other trade closing mechanisms have not triggered yet. However that may be, we congratulate Milton to his 23 000 dollars and the second place!

The third name is taken this week by a Participant from Israel with the very interesting nick of bablokos ( can be translated from Russian as something like 'bucks- reaper' - MetaQuotes Software Corp. translator's note). Using his "money mower", he managed to increase his deposit from 22.5 thousand dollars and come very closely to Milton’s position. Apparently, this week will see the hottest battle for particularly the second and the third place. Well, as for now, we congratulate bablokos to his result and wish him further success in the contest.

The summary table of this week's Participants is given below:

Interview with William Boatright (wackena)

The EA works virtually the same on any chart timeframe as utilized timeframes are hard coded in the EA. I find this makes the EA more reliable.

Interview with Matthew Brown (Matmospheric)

Matthew Brown is now among the best ten developers, but he is not very surprised at it. He has presented in the Championship his Expert Advisor that was thoroughly optimized. Matthew thinks that “all EAs, especially the good ones, need to be optimized and updated from time to time.

Interview with Boris Vilenski (bablokos)

Boris Vilenski from Israel decided to write an automated trading system based on his professional experience, though it is far from trading. This system underlies his competing Expert Advisor. For the EA BablOKoS_EURUSD, Boris developed his own indicator that produces parameters, based on which decisions are made.
