Fundamental Outlook
The euro came off vis-a-vis the U.S. dollar today as the single currency tested bids around the US$ 1.4245 level and was capped around the $ 1.4320 level. Today’s intraday high represents a new lifetime high for the common currency. Traders drove the pair higher on expectations that today’s G7 communique will not make explicit reference to the euro’s relative strength. Countries like France and Italy are known to be critical of the euro’s recent strength while Germany and the U.S. appear more sanguine.
