US May trade deficit up 2.3 pct to 60.0 bln usd as expected 
WASHINGTON (Thomson Financial) - The US trade deficit rose 2.3 pct in May to 60.0 bln usd as Americans imported more and more expensive oil and other commodities.Economists were looking for a 60.0 bln usd deficit, expecting imports to recover from their April slide.

Forex - Euro at all-time high against dollar following strong GDP data 
LONDON (Thomson Financial) - The euro continued to post fresh all-time highs against the dollar, supported by an unexpected upward revision to first quarter GDP growth and robust industrial production figures.

Latvia's Central Bank leaves interest rates unchanged


RIGA (Thomson Financial) - The council of the Bank of Latvia decided on Thursday to leave refinancing rates unchanged at the 6 pct level, the president of the bank said. Other interest rates have remained unchanged as well. As a result, the rate on overnight loans is to stay at 7.5 pct and the overnight deposit rate has remained at 2 pct.

The Bank of Latvia last raised the refinancing rate during the council session in May. The council of the bank decided at the time to raise the refinancing rate by 0.5 percentage points, while the rate on the overnight loans rate was raised by one percentage point.
